Gate Operator
The gate operator is the motorized system that physically moves the gate open and closed.
The operator is the core of the entire automation system. PalmSHIELD selects operators based on gate size, weight, duty cycle, and site conditions to ensure smooth operation and long-term reliability.
- Drives gate along track
- Houses control board and logic system
- Manages speed, force, and stop limits
Heater
A thermostatically controlled heater installed inside the operator enclosure.
Essential for cold climates. Without a heater, automated gates can fail or operate unpredictably in winter conditions.
- Maintains internal temperature in freezing conditions
- Prevents circuit board failure and sluggish performance
Photo Eyes (Safety Sensors)
Infrared sensors that create a light beam across the gate opening.
Photo eyes are a primary safety device and are required for most commercial automated gate installations.
- Detect vehicles or objects in the gate path
- Stop or reverse the gate when the beam is broken
Obstruction Loop Detector
Vehicle detection system using embedded ground loops.
Provides automatic obstruction detection without relying on line-of-sight sensors.
- Detects metal mass (vehicles) in the gate path
- Prevents the gate from closing on a vehicle
Exit Loop Detector
A dedicated loop system for automatic exit.
Improves traffic flow and eliminates the need for keypads or credentials when exiting.
- Opens the gate when a vehicle approaches from inside
- Allows hands-free exit
Reversing Edges
Pressure-sensitive safety strips mounted to the gate.
Provides secondary physical safety in case other sensors fail or are bypassed.
- Detects physical contact
- Immediately stop and reverse gate movement
Entry Keypad / Access Control
User input device for controlled access.
Managers who can enter, when, and how – the core of access control
- Allows entry via PIN code
- Can integrate with RFID, card readers, phone apps, or intercom system.
