Structural Analysis Summary

– Member Details

All structural members use 6061-T6 aluminum angle sections:

  • M1, M5: L3×3×0.25, 72″ long
  • M2, M6: L3×3×0.25, 36″ long
  • M3, M7: L2.5×2.5×0.25, 80.498″ long
  • M8: L2×2×0.25, 6″ long (appears in both configurations)

– Critical Load Case

All members are governed by Load Case 5: D+0.6W (Dead + 60% Wind Load)

– Structural Performance

Maximum stress ratios (lower is better, must be <1.0):

  • Configuration 1: 0.742 (Member M7)
  • Configuration 2: 0.776 (Member M3)

Both designs are structurally adequate with all stress ratios below 1.0.

– Key Engineering Checks Performed

  • Bending stress (primary concern)
  • Shear stress
  • Deflection limits (all well within L/300+ ratios)
  • Buckling analysis using AA ADM1-15 (Aluminum Design Manual)

-Design Loads and Calculations

The hand calculations show:

  • Wind pressure calculations for 150 mph exposure
  • Moment calculations for the T-post configuration
  • Member capacity checks against applied loads

– Professional Certification

The calculations are properly sealed and certified by a licensed Professional Engineer, meeting regulatory requirements for structural design.

All structural members use 6061-T6 aluminum angle sections:

Primary structural members:

  • M10: L2×2×0.25, 51.614″ long
  • M11: L2×2×0.25, 51.614″ long
  • M12: L2×2×0.25, 42″ long
  • M13: L2×2×0.25, 42″ long
  • M14: L3×3×0.25, 60″ long
  • M14A: L2×2×0.25, 42″ long
  • M15-M23: Various L2×2×0.25 members with different lengths

Load Case 5: D+0.6W (Dead + 60% Wind Load) governs all members

Maximum stress ratios (lower is better, must be <1.0):

  • M21: 0.686 (highest stress ratio)
  • M16: 0.682
  • M14: 0.490
  • M15, M17: 0.430 each
  • M20, M22: 0.371 each
  • M19, M23: 0.323 each
  • M14A, M18: 0.303 each
  • Bending stress (primary concern for most members)
  • Shear stress
  • Deflection limits (all well within acceptable ratios >L/760)
  • Buckling analysis using AA ADM1-15 (Aluminum Design Manual)

The hand calculations show:

  • Wind pressure calculations for 150 mph exposure
  • Moment calculations for the T-post configuration
  • Member capacity checks against applied loads
