Structural Analysis Summary
– Member Details
All structural members use 6061-T6 aluminum angle sections:
- M1, M5: L3×3×0.25, 72″ long
- M2, M6: L3×3×0.25, 36″ long
- M3, M7: L2.5×2.5×0.25, 80.498″ long
- M8: L2×2×0.25, 6″ long (appears in both configurations)
– Critical Load Case
All members are governed by Load Case 5: D+0.6W (Dead + 60% Wind Load)
– Structural Performance
Maximum stress ratios (lower is better, must be <1.0):
- Configuration 1: 0.742 (Member M7)
- Configuration 2: 0.776 (Member M3)
Both designs are structurally adequate with all stress ratios below 1.0.
– Key Engineering Checks Performed
- Bending stress (primary concern)
- Shear stress
- Deflection limits (all well within L/300+ ratios)
- Buckling analysis using AA ADM1-15 (Aluminum Design Manual)
-Design Loads and Calculations
The hand calculations show:
- Wind pressure calculations for 150 mph exposure
- Moment calculations for the T-post configuration
- Member capacity checks against applied loads
– Professional Certification
The calculations are properly sealed and certified by a licensed Professional Engineer, meeting regulatory requirements for structural design.
