How does PalmSHIELD’s acoustical screening reduce noise?

At times, the noise generated by mechanical equipment can become grating and insufferable. Especially for employees who work around it day in, day out. (It’s also not attractive for clients visiting your facility.) Of course, essential devices such as HVACs cannot be turned off for extensive periods of time, so you need a way of minimizing the noise they produce.

This is where our Silere acoustical screens come into play. Using Silk Metal micro-perforated aluminum sound absorber panels, these screens reduce echo and limit sound reflections. The panels feature an elegant appearance and boast a Noise Reduction Coefficient rating of 0.80. (NRC coefficients range on a scale of 0-1. Zero means no sound absorption and one means total sound absorption.) In short, our panels won’t completely eliminate noise, but they reduce the vast majority of it to comfortable levels that’ll greatly lessen noise-based distraction.

Constant exposure to high-level noise can also cause health damage to employees. According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, hearing loss can set in following exposure to 85-decibel level noise, and “the louder the sound, the shorter the amount of time it takes for [noise-induced hearing loss] to happen.” Enclosing noisy equipment in or near the work area is in both your employees’ best interest but also your business’s.

What are my options on acoustical louvered screening?

PalmSHIELD offers sound-reducing screening in three styles:

• Acoustical Architectural Solid Panel. Incorporating any of PalmSHIELD’s solid panel infill with a state-of-the-art mass-loaded vinyl noise barrier and Acoustical Surfaces Silk metal box design to allow airflow for maximum noise reduction. The Noise S.T.O.P. Mass Loaded Vinyl Sound Barrier is a high-density exterior-rated barrier. The silk metal micro-perforated metal is offset from the solid architectural panel and vented at the bottom to allow airflow and maximize the silk metal’s performance.
• Full Acoustical Louvered Panel. These louvered panels incorporate a 3” x 1” noise-dampening foam-filled foil louver, allowing for a 50% openness. The back of the louvered panel is 100% covered with the perforated Acoustical Surfaces silk metal material with an approximate 10% openness. These louvered panels provide some degree of air movement with maximum noise reduction in the foam foam-filled louvers and state-of-the-art noise-reducing silk metal materials.
• Limited Acoustical Louvered Panel. These louvered panels incorporate the 3” x 1” noise-dampening foam-filled foil louvers that allow for an adjustable openness. When airflow is critical, these acoustical panels incorporate a varying degree of coverage with the silk metal perforated material. This design leaves a specified amount of the foil louvers uncovered at the top or bottom of the screened panel.
