Architectural Gates: Security and Visual Appeal

Louvered Screen Wall

For over twenty years, PalmSHIELD has redefined standards for architectural and mechanical screen fencing equipment. Every project is custom-designed to the customer’s individual needs. Manufacturing starts after the client approves their specific project’s CAD drawings. Each screen is fabricated by trained industry professionals, who work their magic in a state-of-the-art facility stocked with cutting-edge equipment. Whether you need mechanical screen fencing equipment or solid aluminum panels to ensure privacy and match a nearby building exterior or dumpster enclosures to obscure unsightly fixtures, PalmSHIELD has you covered.

That said, we don’t limit ourselves to screening. Over the years, PalmSHIELD expanded its itinerary to include additional custom-fabricated products: LED-backlit panels, trellis screening, and our newly introduced sun shades, now available under the brand PalmSHADE. We also specialize in architectural gates to complete and secure our architectural screen fencing and wall. When designing screening enclosures, it’s often necessary to consider points of entry. In most cases, this means manufacturing gates that deter intruders while still permitting accessibility to authorized personnel.

Why do I need architectural gates for my screening?

Generally speaking, the purpose of architectural and mechanical screen fencing equipment is to obscure certain fixtures and objects from public view. (Said fixtures can include rooftop equipment, HVACs, solar panels, generators, transformers, propane tanks, and dumpsters. Always consult your local codes, as you might be required to install screening around these items.) At the same time, you need a means of accessing the enclosure. Say, for example, you’ve installed our horizontal louvered screening around your HVACs. If the HVACs need maintenance, mechanics need a way of getting inside to make the necessary repairs.

Gates for dumpster enclosures are likewise necessary. Especially when it comes to commercial property owners, access is needed sometimes on a daily basis. At the same time, you can’t have a perpetually open gap in your dumpster enclosure; nonstop exposure leaves dumpsters—and their contents—vulnerable to vandals and wild animals. The last thing you want is for your trash to be scattered; your employees will be responsible for clean-up, cutting into time better spent on productivity. Having a dependable gate allows staff/city personnel to access the dumpsters when needed while keeping out trespassers and animals.

What are my options on architectural gates?

To reiterate: one of the key selling points of buying from PalmSHIELD is that we custom-fabricate everything. This includes your gates, which we’ll carefully manufacture to match the surrounding screens. Say you’re ordering panels with gray vertical louvers; we can also create a gate of the same style. This way, everything blends together and the entire installation feels whole. PalmSHIELD offers several architectural gate styles:

  • Maximus Swing Gates. Built to resemble the doors of a bank vault, these architectural gates are ideal for industrial settings when modern aesthetics are critical.
  • Sampson Swing Gates. Perfect for upscale commercial or industrial settings, these swing gates are commonly used for dumpster gates, trash enclosures, and outdoor storage areas.
  • Tiger Slide Gates. These architectural gates combine the visual options with a commercial cantilever option. Like all cantilever gates, they are fully suspended off the ground.

What are my architectural gate infill options?

Louver Infill

  • Horizontal. Customizable in their spacing, PalmSHIELD’s horizontal lovers allow you to dictate visibility and airflow.
  • Diagonal. Looking for a modern, eye-catching aesthetic? Diagonal louvers are commonly used when enclosing patios, outdoor seating areas, and similar social venues.
  • Vertical. Commonly selected by designers and architects needing to match an existing outdoor design.

Solid Infill

  • Aluminum. These aluminum tongue and groove planks can be set horizontally or vertically to match nearby building exteriors.
  • Vinyl. Highly rust-resistant and long-lasting, our vinyl infill includes a popular section of wood grain impressions.
  • Composite. While strong and durable, our composite infill is lightweight compared to other composite options on the market.

Open and Semi-Private

  • Wire Mesh. Composed of vertical and horizontal wires welded together, this infill type allows visibility and ventilation without sacrificing strength and security.
  • Perforated. The perfect infill choice for clients who merely want a silhouetted glimpse of objects behind their architectural gate.
  • Semi-Private. Increased visibility and airflow.
